What To Do?
Where we are based on the outskirts of Taunton, 15 minutes away from both junction 25 on the M5 and the 303. We like to think that Somerset is bursting with things to do and explore - whether you're a native or have never been in the area before!

Below are some ideas for local attractions but there are many more to be discovered on your stay...
CIDER
Somerset is famous for a number of things, but often first that comes to mind is the word "Cider"! We have a number of cider makers, big and small, that are open for visits at certain times of the year.
There is Thatchers which is just a 45 minute drive from Acorn Meadows, who will give a 2 hour guided tour of their site for just £12 per person.

Closer to home is Sheppy's Cider, who also carry out tours of their cider making and orchards. They also have a farm shop, restaurant and museum on site so you can always find something to do!

If you'd like something a little bit stronger we also have The Somerset Cider Brandy Company nearby... who not only produce cider but distill half of their produce in order to make cider brandy (what the French call "Calvados").
ALPACA WALKING
Why not walk an alpaca while you're staying? We're lucky to have Stoke Wood Alpacas nearby where guests can book up to 8 people to spend 2 hours feeding / walking / learning about alpacas!
Here's a link to their website:
TAUNTON CRICKET
Taunton is famous for it's cricket as it hosts many Somerset matches as it's their training pitch - why not look into tickets while you're staying?
SHOPPING
One of the closest towns to Acorn Meadows is Taunton, which is Somerset's main town - it boasts many mainstream stores and eateries but also has some individual shops and cafes.

If you're searching for more individual shops there are smaller towns close by: Ilminster and Langport which are know for their eclectic stores plus local artisan bakeries and butchers.

If you are looking for more of a day trip; we have Bath, Bristol, Exeter or Clarks Village all within an hour of the farm.
WITHY WEAVING
The area is well know for its Willow trees which often are used in basket making, just one village over is the Willows and Wetland Centre which is a large producer of weaved produce. You can see where Fortnum and Mason's famous hampers are weaved!
Occasionally they hold classes on weaving woodland animals or baskets, but they book up fast so it's worth checking their website for availability...
They have cafe, museum, shop all on site as well as a small farm shop, gift shop and florist so it's well worth a trip down!
LOCAL WALKS
If you don't feel like getting in the car - why not travel the local footpaths? Take a picnic (or pick one up from the post office), walk to the pub or charity coffee shop in North Curry... relax and soak up the area!
