Belted Galloway Cows

Our Herd

Here at Nythe Farm we are the home for just under 60 Belted Galloway cows. What started off as a hobby in 2014 with just 4 cows, it is now a great passion of ours and we love the direction they have taken the farm in. With more permanent grasslands that are kept tidy by the cows, instead of crops harvested by large machinery, it has encouraged more wildlife to come back to the farm.

Every member of our herd has a name and distinctive personality... you could meet "Rollo" our chilled out Beltie Bull. "Pigeon" who has the shortest legs but the biggest heart as she loves to care for the new calves - even when they aren't her own! Or "Beryl" who was the first Beltie to be born on the farm, usually it's either her or her sister "Oatcake" who have escaped from their designated field because the grass is always greener...

As you can tell, talking about our cows is one of our favourite pastimes! If you decide to stay they are sure to add a little something special to your visit here on the farm.
